Well race fans, the 2010 sprint-car racing season at Knoxville is upon us. Unfortunately, so is the rainy season! Practice night was washed out last night and rescheduled for next Friday. Our season opener is slated for next Saturday, May 1. Here's hoping the weather forecasters are wrong in their predictions for another rainy weekend and we can all get back to our happy place.

For me, it will mark my 10th year of work in the pressbox alongside track historian Bob Wilson. Bob and I will be doing our best again this year to bring you all the action as it happens at our live results site. Go to www.knoxvilleraceway.com and then to the Results tab to follow along each night we have racing.

This is a big year, of course, with the 50th Knoxville Nationals coming up in August and all the great fanfare surrounding that event. Once again, I am planning my "Women in Sprint Car Racing" forum that I host for the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame during the Nationals. And I'm already thinking about story ideas for the Nationals program. Just like everyone else associated with Knoxville Raceway, I want to make this the most special year for all the fans out there and hopefully attract new fans to the greatest race track in the world.

I'm also trying to help out my boys at John Hall Racing again this year with some publicity. They are furiously working on putting the new car together in hopes of being ready next Saturday. There's still a lot to do, though.

So here's to nice weather next Saturday, all drivers and cars being ready to hit the track and above all, safety and good fortunes for all my Knoxville drivers. Since live results is a busy job, I'm not sure I can get this blog updated on race nights, but I'm going to try to post something from the track. If I can't get it done there, look for my weekly blog updates on Sunday afternoons. If you see me at the track, be sure to say hello!
